WHAT IS A GREEN WAY TO SCHOOL?

Bus, carpool, bike, scooter, walk- any means of getting to school that results in fewer cars coming to campus

OUR SCHOOL GOALS:

Safer streets for our kids & fewer cars on the road.  At Hidden Valley, we encourage students and families to take a green way to school at least once a week by hosting Walk-n-Roll days each Wednesday!  Students can get their Active4me tag scanned at our table at the traffic circle,  to log green miles, as well as sending an email alert to registered parents.

WHAT IF WE LIVE FAR FROM SCHOOL BUT WANT TO PARTICIPATE?

Kids can catch the bus, carpool with neighbors or park at Caletta & Butterfield and walk part-way, in order to qualify for a green way.

BIKE TRAINS & THE WALKING SCHOOL BUS

On International Bike & Walk to School Day (Wednesday, October 6, 2021) and National Bike to School Day (Wednesday, May 5, 2021), we will have bike and walking groups starting at both the Sleepy Hollow Clubhouse as well as Caletta/Butterfield. It is a group of kids riding or walking to school together, led by a volunteer parent “conductor”.   Everyone is welcome!

WHAT IS ACTIVE4ME?

ACTIVE4ME is our Scanner Tag Program. Through it, we track green miles, building environmental awareness and encouraging green travel to school. Kids who sign up for the free program receive barcoded tags, which are scanned every Wednesday morning. Parents can register online to receive an email alert when their child is scanned on campus.

KEEP TAGS FROM PREVIOUS YEARS! We can switch it their new grade/classroom.
