Welcome Back Hawks!

We hope everyone had a wonderful winter break! We came back to tons of rain, power outages and other difficulties, but the good news is: WE HAVE A NEW PE TEACHER - Alex Wahl!! Look for more information on that next week.

The lost and found is small now, please don’t let it get big!

See below for info on our next PTO meeting!

Thanks!

January PTO Meeting

Join us on January 13th at 8:30 am for our first PTO meeting of 2023.  This meeting is particularly important for our 4th and 5th grade families, as we will be joined by one of the White Hill Middle School Co-Principals, John Baker or Mary-Clare Mullin. This was an extremely informative PTO meeting last year. Bring questions! We will also provide a Zoom link for those that can’t join in person.

Shared Enrichment Club Coordinator Needed (twice a month)

Lego Clubs have been a huge success so far since our launch!  Do you want your 3rd-5th grader to continue to enjoy Lego Enrichment Club on Mondays?  We are in need of a helper every other Monday during lunch time 12:10-12:45.  Unfortunately, without help we will not be able to continue this amazing enrichment opportunity for our upper grades.  Please email hiddenvalleyhawkspto@gmail.com if you are interested.

Movie Night or Game Night Parent Coordinator Needed

How fun would it be to have a Student Movie Night or a Family Game Night before the end of the school year?  PTO needs your help!  We are open to these ideas or others you may have for a student or family fun event.  Please email hiddenvalleyhawkspto@gmail.com to share your ideas.

Wishing you and your family a WONDER-full year 2023.

As you may face this new year, wondering what opportunities and challenges your future hold for you, I want to share with you this optimistic and encouraging quote from Lewis H Latimer, a talented Black Inventor who contributed to the development of the light bulb and the telephone.

"We create our future by well improving

present opportunities - however few

and small they be."

I knew nothing about Lewis Latimer until I literally walked on this commemorative plaque featuring his quote engraved on the path leading to the California Science Center in LA. I found Lewis H Latimer's words recomforting, and I hope they will bring hope and comfort to you too.

Discoveries are everywhere and anywhere, waiting for open eyes and curious minds to find and enjoy them.

Cheers,

anne-laure, contributing editor of Diversity and Equity Insight.
